Planning a friendcation can be a bit tricky, but if you’ve gone through our tips and think you can pull it off, then you’ll want to get started on the itinerary. One of the major decisions you’ll have to make here will be where to go.

Since planning will most likely involve two or more persons, I figured a simple list to choose from would be very helpful. Here are, in my humble opinion, 10 of the best friendcation destinations in the world.

1. New Orleans, USA

Of everyone’s favourite destinations in the US, only New Orleans has Bourbon Street. The heart of the French Quarter is known for bars and strip clubs that are alive both day and night. What group of friends don't want to indulge in all kinds of booze and beaus together? But this city is also a cultural site with history oozing from all the different types of art: visual, musical, even culinary.

2. Amsterdam, Netherlands

No matter how different your ideas of beauty or fun are, Amsterdam will cater to all your tastes all at once, and you’ll barely notice the segues. Walking down the street will take you from drinking at a bar or nightclub to getting engrossed in Van Gogh’s art. There's also culinary goodness for every kind of palate. Boys, girls and the gworls can all passionately be themselves here.

3. Dubrovnik, Croatia

This historic baroque gem in Croatia was the main filming location for HBO’s hit show, Game of Thrones. So, you can all visit King’s Landing dressed as your favourite characters. Spend the day exploring, learning, and of course, taking pictures. At night, Dubrovnik’s party scene comes alive. When getting props, don't forget the wineskins and goblets so you can indulge in the city’s overflow of Lannister grade wine.

4. Tamarindo, Costa Rica

Tamarindo might be a small town, but its charm is abundant . It’s also considerably cheaper than most other destinations. If you love water as much as I do, you're in for the time of your life. Splashing around with my friends is more than enough fun for me, but there's much more to enjoy: surfing, zip-lining, boating. Even fishing and horseback riding are feasible group activities.

5. Montreal, Canada

The Paris of Canada is known as one of the liveliest cities in North America; often the top choice for tourists looking for a lot to do in considerably little time. If you want a quick break before getting back on the clock, and you want to do it with others like you (from friends to colleagues to random strangers you meet at your hostel), then Montreal is your city. It balances modernism and a historic European setting: shuffling sophisticated meals and street grub, jazz and modern music, Mile End and Old Port.

6. Reykjavik, Iceland

In 2017, tourism in Iceland grew so much that visitors outnumbered locals seven to one. This is, in part, because no one really visits this destination alone. The incredible natural phenomena (like the Northern Lights) are better witnessed with a special group of people, reinforcing the experience. 7. Munich, Germany

The home of Oktoberfest is a place to go for all the rave and all the beer — none of which you can really enjoy on your own. Notwithstanding the world-famous celebration, Munich is a beer-filled, sensational cultural destination all year round. With natural attractions as glorious as the architectural ones, there’s much to see, much to do, and more than enough space for everyone needed for a thoroughly good time.

8. Taipei, Taiwan

Foodie friend groups will have a fantastic time here, hopping from street vendor to street vendor or, if you’d rather, any of the 21 Michelin Star restaurants. Actually, my friends and I would shake things up a bit. But that's when we’re not soaking in the sun at the beach or downing shots in a race to see who can get the most shitfaced. Shilin Night Market is also a popular destination for friends who crave an unconventional shopping experience.

9. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

This destination will bring out the college explorer in you all. If you’ve been friends that long, you’ll appreciate how the city reminds you of all the wildest things you all nudged each other to do, from crazy hookups to exploring that cave because it looks inviting. Punta Cana is also budget-friendly. (In fact, you can get into some of the beaches for free.) This is beneficial for a relatively large friend group.

10. Hoi An, Vietnam

This charming place brings a peaceful satisfaction to its tourists. In those moments, it's pretty easy to be grateful for where you're at and who you’re with. One, two, maybe even seven friends, taking a deep breath simultaneously. The backdrop is colourful lanterns, historic architecture and the night sky. During the day, head over to a beach and enjoy the white sand, blue sky and waves.
